- Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at www.getreversemortgage.ca (the "Website"), any embedded platforms, portals, or forms operated through the Website, and any reverse mortgage advisory, brokerage, or related financial services provided by GetReverseMortgage.ca and BNQ Financial Corp. (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing the Website, submitting an inquiry or application, attending a webinar, or otherwise engaging with our Services, you ("you," "your," or "Client") agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any other agreements or disclosures applicable to your engagement. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our Website or Services.
- About GetReverseMortgage.ca
GetReverseMortgage.ca is a reverse mortgage specialist division of BNQ Financial Corp., a licensed Canadian mortgage firm regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) under Licence Number 13618. We are an independent mortgage brokerage and do not represent or act as an agent for any individual lender. Our Services involve the assessment, comparison, and arrangement of reverse mortgage and home equity financing solutions on behalf of clients.
GetReverseMortgage.ca works with all major Canadian reverse mortgage lenders, including HomeEquity Bank, EQ Bank, Bloom Finance, and Fraction. We receive compensation from lenders upon successful funding of a reverse mortgage. Full compensation disclosure will be made to you as required by applicable law and FSRA guidelines.
- Eligibility
To use our Services or submit a reverse mortgage inquiry, you must be at least 55 years of age and a Canadian homeowner. All persons named on the title of the subject property must meet the minimum age requirement. Additional eligibility criteria apply based on property type, location, equity, and lender-specific underwriting requirements. By using the Website or Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is true, accurate, current, and complete.
- Nature of Our Services
GetReverseMortgage.ca provides the following services, subject to eligibility and lender approval:
Independent reverse mortgage consultation and eligibility assessment. Comparison of reverse mortgage products across all major Canadian lenders. Application preparation and submission on your behalf. Coordination of property appraisals, lender requirements, and legal processes. Communication management with lenders, appraisers, and legal counsel throughout the transaction. Educational resources, webinars, and newsletters related to reverse mortgages and retirement financial planning.
Our Services are advisory and brokerage in nature. We work for you, not for any individual lender. We may also discuss alternative home equity solutions, such as home equity lines of credit, where these may be more appropriate for your circumstances.
- No Guarantee of Approval or Outcome
An initial consultation, eligibility estimate, or indicative loan range provided by GetReverseMortgage.ca does not constitute a commitment to lend or a guarantee of mortgage approval. All applications are subject to full lender underwriting, satisfactory property appraisal by a certified independent appraiser, title review, and applicable regulatory requirements. Approval decisions rest solely with the lender, and GetReverseMortgage.ca cannot guarantee any particular outcome.
Any estimate of borrowing capacity, including references to amounts of up to approximately 55% or 59% of appraised home value, are illustrative and subject to change based on individual circumstances, lender criteria, age, property type, and market conditions. Actual amounts available will be confirmed by the lender following a formal appraisal and underwriting review.
- Independent Legal Advice
As a condition of finalizing any reverse mortgage in Canada, all borrowers are required to obtain independent legal advice (ILA) from a lawyer of their own choosing before signing the final mortgage documentation. This is a regulatory requirement imposed by Canadian reverse mortgage lenders and is one of the most important consumer protections in the industry. GetReverseMortgage.ca will inform you of this requirement and assist in coordinating the legal review process, but we do not provide legal advice and are not a substitute for independent legal counsel.
- Tax and Financial Advice Disclaimer
Reverse mortgage proceeds are loan funds, not income, and are generally not subject to Canadian income tax and do not reduce Old Age Security (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), or Canada Pension Plan (CPP) payments. However, tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change with legislative amendments. Nothing in our communications, website content, or Services constitutes tax, legal, accounting, or financial planning advice. You are strongly encouraged to consult a qualified and independent tax advisor, financial planner, accountant, and/or estate lawyer before making any decision regarding a reverse mortgage.
- Accuracy of Information

Providing false or misleading information in connection with a mortgage application is an offence under applicable Canadian law, including the Criminal Code of Canada, and may result in immediate termination of your application, reporting to regulatory or law enforcement authorities, and civil or criminal liability.
- Fees and Costs
GetReverseMortgage.ca does not charge clients a direct consultation or brokerage fee for its reverse mortgage advisory and arrangement services. We receive compensation from lenders upon successful funding. This compensation will be disclosed to you in accordance with FSRA requirements.
You will be responsible for third-party costs associated with a reverse mortgage transaction, which may include property appraisal fees, independent legal advice fees, title insurance, registration fees, and any applicable lender fees. A clear, itemized cost summary will be provided to you before you are asked to make any final decision.
- Use of the Website
You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not:
Use the Website in a manner that violates any applicable federal, provincial, or local law or regulation. Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form or application on the Website. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Website or any associated system or network. Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape or extract content from the Website. Misrepresent your identity, age, or property ownership in any inquiry or application. Interfere with or disrupt the functionality or security of the Website. Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from the Website without our prior written consent.

All content on the Website, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, videos, educational materials, and the GetReverseMortgage.ca name and branding, is the property of BNQ Financial Corp. or its licensors and is protected by applicable Canadian and international intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, republish, or commercially exploit any content from the Website without our prior written permission.
- Communications and Electronic Consent
By providing your contact information through the Website or any form, you consent to receiving communications from GetReverseMortgage.ca and BNQ Financial Corp. by email, telephone, and SMS, including application updates, educational content, newsletters, and marketing communications, in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and applicable telecommunications regulations.

- Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, GetReverseMortgage.ca, BNQ Financial Corp., and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Website or Services, including but not limited to loss of income, loss of equity, loss of opportunity, or decisions made in reliance on information provided through our website or consultations.
GetReverseMortgage.ca's total aggregate liability to you in connection with any claim arising from the use of our Website or Services shall not exceed the total fees, if any, paid by you to GetReverseMortgage.ca or BNQ Financial Corp. in connection with your specific transaction, or one hundred Canadian dollars ($100 CAD), whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including any liability arising under FSRA-regulated activities.

- Anti-Money Laundering and Identity Verification
BNQ Financial Corp. and GetReverseMortgage.ca are subject to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and the regulations thereunder. We are required to verify the identity of all clients, report certain financial transactions to FINTRAC, and maintain records in compliance with applicable anti-money laundering obligations. By engaging our Services, you agree to cooperate with all identity verification and compliance procedures and to provide any documents or information required for these purposes.
- Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
